As you know, Law is a set of rules that regulate behaviours of an individual or an institute. It is the basic part of our constitution.



The education of Law is being offered by almost every university in India. The main regulatory body of Law education is Bar Council of India (BCI). The BCI provides "Certificate of Practice" to the candidates after completing a degree in Law.

To improve the standard of Law education in India, the first National Law University (NLU) was established in 1985 in Bengaluru (then Bangalore) by the Law Commission of India.

Courses & Career after 12th in Law


LLB: Bachelor of Legislative Law or commonly known as Bachelor of Laws is three-year course after graduation. LLB can be pursued after completion of graduation in any discipline.


B.A. LLB/BBA LLB: In 2001, for the first time the National Law University, Jodhpur offered the integrated law degree of B.B.A, LL.B. (Honours). Now, integrated law degree in four different streams and honours specialisation are being offered by various NLUs - BA/B.Com/BBA/B.Sc. LLB (Honours)

After completing 12th, a candidate can opt for five-year integrated undergraduate degrees.

Master of Laws (LL.M.): One to two years
Master of Business Law: One to two years
Integrated MBL-LLM/ MBA-LLM: Three years
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
